BRITISH INDEPENDENT MARTIAL ARTS ASSOCIATION

Founded as an amateur organisation in North Lincolnshire 1990 by Tony Wootton and his son Gary with the view of  promoting high skill levels within Martial Arts, catering for male and females ages raging from 6 years of age and above.

Now some 17 years later it has been decided that BIMAA becomes an independent organisation as the name suggests. Which means there is no political interference with people who for some reason think themselves authorities within martial arts and in many cases consider themselves to be more socially, intellectually and skilfully advanced than the real Martial Artist's - enough said i think.

On my forward route I managed to study and graded in lots of martial arts styles over the last 30 or more years with lots of very good instructors and  was lucky enough to travel to lots of different locations Sweden, Dubai, Hong Kong, Manila.

Anyway briefly, after spending lots of time with my family in the Philippines, I started  studying the local martial arts systems and now having a reasonable knowledge of a selection of Martial Systems, I decided that it was time to put this knowledge of styles into practice and so creating

• a karate style based on wado ryu (and with great respect for my sensei Professor Tatsuo Suzuki)

• a kickboxing style (based on freestyle kickboxing)

• a unique style (B.R.L.) with employs techniques from karate, kickboxing, self defense, western boxing, atemi jitsu, Pilipino Martial Arts, weapons and shiatsu traditional japanese therapy. Strangely enough my Shiatsu Training was completed in UK 1997 when I became a Practitioner.

These are collectively called Lakas
